A message from Ashley Perna:
I'm a local comic, law clerk, and mom, with three jobs and a hectic schedule.
But I wasn't always this fortunate.
Not that long ago, I was between jobs, dealing with a chronic illness, and worried I was going to lose my home or worse, my son. Thankfully, Partners In Mission Food Bank was there for me. Not only did they give me the food I needed to be able to pay my rent and feed my family, they did so in a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere.
Their team of volunteers work so hard to ensure that the people of Kingston have enough to eat, always greeting clients with a friendly face and kind words.
I always promised myself that when I was back on my feet, I would give back.
So, for my 38th birthday, I am producing a comedy fundraiser, streamed live on Zoom and Facebook Live, to collect donations in support of Partners in Mission Food Bank. I've gathered together a lineup of my favourite comedians (and one favourite musician!) to provide an evening of entertainment. You can find the event page including the full lineup, here, .
I know these are trying times for everyone, which means that there is a huge need for the services that the Food Bank provides. So, if you are able to donate anything, please do so. Every dollar helps. And if you are not in a position to give financially, please share the event with your friends and family. Let's get the word out and crush our fundraising goal!
